As the deception takes root, co-workers and other associates who previously found him dull now find the accountant to be exciting and mysterious. The Dinner Game Francis Veber A wealthy publisher (Thierry Lhermitte) and his equally prosperous friends compete in a cruel game in which the object is to find the sorriest, most obnoxious guest possible. The impossibly irritating Francois (Jacques Villeret) seems like a sure victory, but as the publisher's life falls apart, he begins to feel far less superior. Jet Lag Daniele Thompson Two of France's biggest stars find love in the most unlikely place in this light romantic comedy. A flight mix-up and transportation strike ground an emotional make-up artist (Juliette Binoche) and a uptight salesman with a flair for gourmet cooking (Jean Reno) at an airport in Paris. They decide to share a hotel room for the evening and soon the two opposites begin to attract each other. The chemistry between Binoche and Reno is electric. In French with English subtitles. L'Auberge Espagnole (The Spanish Apartment) Cedric Klapisch Cedric Klapisch looks at the lives and loves of seven young coeds living in a Barcelona apartment in this entertaining ensemble comedy. Focusing primarily on straight-laced French student, Xavier (Romain Duris), the film follows the naive student's eye-opening experiences with his new roommates from all over Europe, much to the chagrin of his girlfriend (Audrey Tautou). Nominated for six 2002 Cesar Awards, with Cecile de France winning the Best Young Actress Award. Also stars Judith Godreche and Kelly Reilly. La Cage Aux Folles Edouard Molinaro A gay couple in St. Tropez discover their lives are complicated when the son of one of the men wants to marry into a politically repressive family. Ugo Tognazzi and Michel Serrault are Renato and Albin, the owners of the La Cage aux Folles nightclub, which features a popular revue of female impersonation. This surprise international hit was based on the play by Jean Poiret. With Benny Luke and Michael Galabru as the head of the Union of Moral Order. French with English subtitles. Love at the Top (Le Mouton Enrage) Michel Deville In this French comedy from Michel Deville (The Woman in Blue), a shy bank clerk (Jean-Louis Trintignant) becomes the toast of Paris after an impoverished novelist (Jean-Pierre Cassel) teaches him how to woo the ladies and become rich. The Mad Adventures of Rabbi Jacob Gerard Oury Louis de Funes stars in this celebrated comic treat as a racist, anti-Semitic businessman en route to his daughter's wedding, who unwittingly stumbles upon a group of Arab terrorists.
